Cian Leavey, a 22-year-old man from Caragh, Co Kildare, has been denied bail and remanded in custody after being charged with assault causing harm to 24-year-old Dawn Hamill. The incident occurred in Newbridge, Co Kildare, on December 3. Leavey was arrested and later released to a hospital before presenting himself to the Garda Station. Detective Garda Patrick Robbins objected to bail, leading Judge Desmond Zaidan to deny it. Leavey is scheduled to appear via video link from Cloverhill Prison on December 19.
