A 28-year-old inmate who escaped from the Saintes detention center in Charente-Maritime lasted just over three days on the run before being apprehended near Rochefort. The man fled while assisting prison staff with garbage disposal. Previously convicted of burglary and incarcerated since October 2023, he was scheduled for release in August 2025. His escape occurred after receiving permission for prison activities.
