A 7-year-old boy from Staphorst has died two weeks after sustaining severe injuries in a karting accident at an indoor track in Swalmen, Limburg. His family announced the tragic news via social media. The boy, Sid Veijer, was a promising motorsport talent, having recently won a national championship. Following the accident, he was transported by ambulance and later transferred to a hospital by trauma helicopter, where he fought for his life. An investigation by labor authorities into the incident is currently underway.
