Saudi Arabia Executes Record Number of Foreign Nationals in 2024

In an unprecedented increase, Saudi Arabia has executed over 100 foreign nationals since the beginning of the year, raising concerns among human rights organizations. The recent execution of Musa Saleh, a Yemeni citizen convicted of drug trafficking, brought the total to 101. The kingdom’s execution rate is among the highest globally, only surpassed by China and Iran, according to Amnesty International. Critics emphasize that these actions undermine the country’s reformative image projected by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
