Investigation Utilizing Specially Trained Dog to Identify Wildlife Casualties at Wind Farms in Thrace

The Biodiversity Protection Society of Thrace has initiated a study using a specially trained dog named Dalton to detect dead animals at wind farms. The research aims to improve the assessment and monitoring of the impact of wind parks on local bird and bat populations. The effectiveness of human researchers compared to the canine approach will be evaluated, as dogs are more adept at finding deceased animals. This study also addresses the lack of systematic research on casualties caused by improperly sited wind turbines in the region.
