Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Proposes Ukraine Conflict ‘Freeze’ at G20 Summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will present a proposal to ‘freeze’ the conflict in Ukraine along current frontline lines at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. He aims to convince Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to delay NATO accession discussions for at least 10 years and plans to suggest the establishment of a demilitarized zone in eastern Donbas with international troops stationed there. Turkish officials believe this approach is the most realistic, despite acknowledging the challenges Ukraine may face in agreeing to it.
