Pharmaceutical company Abbott inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Kilkenny, Ireland, focused on diabetes technology, creating over 800 jobs. This development is part of a €440 million investment in Ireland, including significant expansions at existing sites. The Kilkenny plant will produce the world’s highest volume of FreeStyle Libre glucose monitoring sensors and features sustainable energy solutions. Taoiseach Simon Harris attended the ceremony, highlighting Abbott’s long presence in Ireland and its commitment to advanced manufacturing and healthcare. The company is also donating $100,000 to support local education initiatives.
