Increasing Employment Opportunities for the Long-Term Unemployed in Switzerland

A recent report from the Federal Statistical Office indicates that from 2019 to 2023, an average of 25,000 individuals were declared long-term unemployed each year in Switzerland. Notably, those over 45, without vocational training, and foreign nationals face greater challenges in re-entering the workforce. While many find jobs after being unemployed for a while, they often accept positions with lower pay than the industry median. Factors like a lack of support and job market disparities contribute to these challenges, particularly for women and solo caregivers.
