Study Reveals High Rates of Domestic Abuse Among Men in Northern Ireland
A recent study from Queen’s University Belfast shows that over half of male domestic abuse victims in Northern Ireland do not report their experiences. Many victims suffer from severe mental health issues, including suicidal thoughts. The report highlights a lack of support and significant stigma surrounding male victims. Despite nearly a third of domestic abuse victims being male, there are no refuges available for them. Officials stress the need for targeted policies and services to properly support these individuals and address the prevalence of intimate partner violence against men.
