Local Mayors Demand Greater Protection Against Violence and Harassment in France
French mayors are calling for enhanced protections against violence and harassment after experiencing online bullying and physical attacks. At the Congress of Mayors, they highlighted incidents such as online harassment faced by Laval Mayor Florian Bercault and the arson of Briançon Mayor Arnaud Murgia’s car. They urge Catherine Vautrin, Minister for Territorial Partnerships, to strengthen legislative measures to ensure safety for local officials and make attacks against them an aggravating circumstance.
