The Bank of Greece has approved the request from the municipality of Platanias for the issuance of a silver commemorative coin dedicated to the martyr villages and cities of Greece. Mayor Giannis Malandrakis highlighted the somber privilege of having three recognized martyr villages. The initiative aims to honor the memory of residents who suffered under Nazi atrocities and promote historical awareness.
