Rising Poverty in Switzerland Drives Demand for Charitable Services

As the cost of living rises in Switzerland, charitable organizations are reporting a significant increase in demand for their services, particularly among younger individuals and families facing financial hardships. Regine Rust of the St. Gallen Foundation for Addiction Relief notes a troubling trend of working individuals seeking assistance at their soup kitchen, while Amine Diaré Condé’s organization ‘Essen für alle’ is also witnessing a surge in those relying on their food distribution services. With 750,000 people, including 136,000 children, living in poverty, the need for support is greater than ever.
