Incoming President Donald Trump has nominated Scott Bessent, a former executive at George Soros’ investment firm, to be the Secretary of the Treasury. Bessent has a history of donating approximately $3 million to Trump and other Republican causes. If confirmed, he will be the first openly gay member in a Republican cabinet approved by the Senate. Alongside Bessent, Trump also announced nominees for other key positions, including Russ Vought for the Office of Management and Budget and Scott Turner for Housing and Urban Development.
