The Hellenic Ornithological Society has issued a warning about a sharp decline in global populations of migratory shorebirds, with some species experiencing reductions greater than one-third. According to Rula Trigkou, the society’s communication officer, at-risk species include those that pass through Greece. These birds rely on specific migratory routes, making them vulnerable to habitat loss and climate change threats.
