French legislators from La France insoumise (LFI) have proposed a bill seeking to repeal the offense of glorifying terrorism, arguing it is misused against freedom of expression. They point to instances where union officials faced legal action under this law, claiming it stifles public demonstrations and discussions, particularly concerning the Hamas-Israel conflict. The proposal follows heightened scrutiny since the October attacks by Hamas, with some lawmakers, including Rima Hassan and Mathilde Panot, being questioned by police. Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau criticized the bill as ‘ignoble’.
