British Perfume Executive Admits Ignoring Russia Sanctions Amid Controversy

David Crisp, a British businessman, has come under fire for allegedly selling luxury perfume to Russia despite government sanctions. Captured in undercover footage, Crisp claimed he ignored sanctions while selling ‘Boadicea the Victorious’ perfume. Although arrested by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in 2023, the investigation was dropped despite evidence suggesting over £1.7 million in illegal transactions. This has raised concerns among lawmakers, including MP Sir Iain Duncan Smith, who criticize the lack of criminal prosecutions for sanction violations since the onset of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
