Ipsos Exit Poll Errors Blamed on Low Voter Turnout in Ireland
Polling firm Ipsos Behaviour & Attitudes has attributed inaccuracies in its recent Exit Poll to lower than anticipated voter turnout, which skewed results, particularly underestimating Fianna Fáil and overestimating Sinn Féin’s vote shares. The poll predicted Fianna Fáil at 19.5% and Sinn Féin at 21.1%, while actual results showed 21.9% for Fianna Fáil and 19.0% for Sinn Féin. Ipsos noted that lower turnout, especially among young and urban voters, and a higher refusal rate among older voters likely impacted the final data.
