The British government has condemned President Bashar al-Assad’s regime for creating conditions that led to an escalation of violence in Syria. Following a surprise attack by rebel groups in northwestern Syria, London has urged all parties involved to safeguard civilian lives. The UK Foreign Office stated that Assad’s continuous refusal to engage in a political process and reliance on Russia and Iran has fuelled the current conflict escalation.
