Majority of Children Aged Ten and Above Own Smartphones, Study Finds

A new survey by the Digital Association Bitkom reveals that 75% of children aged ten to twelve in Germany have their own smartphones. Experts warn that children are gaining access to the internet too early, recommending that children should only get their first smartphone when they are able to understand internet dangers, typically around ages 12 to 13. The survey highlights a significant increase in smartphone ownership as children transition into secondary education, with nearly all individuals aged 16 and above owning a smartphone.
