Three Dead After Consuming Endangered Sea Turtle Stew in Philippines
In the Philippines, three individuals have died and over 30 others have been hospitalized after consuming a stew made from an endangered sea turtle. Symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea were reported among the indigenous Teduray people in Maguindanao del Norte Province. While the hunting of sea turtles is illegal, they remain a traditional delicacy in some communities. Investigations are underway as other animals fed the contaminated turtle also died.
