United States Imposes New Export Restrictions on Semiconductor Technology to China
The United States announced new export restrictions aimed at preventing China from using American technology to modernize its military and artificial intelligence capabilities. Effective December 2, the Department of Commerce will impose controls on the export of key semiconductor manufacturing equipment and software. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan emphasized the importance of protecting U.S. technology from adversaries. In addition, 140 more Chinese companies will face export limitations due to their involvement in advancing China’s chip objectives, prompting a strong response from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
