Italy Implements Stricter Regulations on Short-Term Rentals Ahead of Upcoming Jubilee

The Italian government has announced new regulations on short-term rentals to enhance public safety during a projected influx of 30-35 million tourists for the upcoming Jubilee. Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, emphasized the importance of in-person identification for guests to prevent risks associated with criminal and terrorist activities. The measures, which also involve restricting automated check-ins via keyboxes, aim to combat illegal housing occupation. Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè expressed full support for these initiatives, while Airbnb pledged to assist cities in promoting personal hospitality.
