UK Government Proposes Enhanced Protections for Stalking Victims
The UK government, led by Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, is introducing new measures to improve protections for stalking victims. Proposed changes include a ‘right to know’ policy regarding the identity of online stalkers, expanded availability of Stalking Protection Orders, and measures to prevent offenders from contacting victims from prison. These efforts follow a review indicating that existing protections for stalking victims are inadequate, with the aim to halve violence against women and girls over the next decade.
