The British Government has initiated a comprehensive asset freeze on Brian Sheridan, an Irish man from Co Armagh, due to his suspected ties to terrorism and the New Irish Republican Army (New IRA). The UK Treasury announced that all financial resources owned or controlled by Sheridan in the UK are frozen, prohibiting any financial dealings without government authorization. This marks a significant application of the new counter-terrorism financial sanctions aimed at addressing Northern Ireland-related terrorism, according to Economic Secretary Tulip Siddiq.
