Senior Lebanese officials are calling on the United States and France to pressure Israel into respecting the ceasefire agreed upon last week, which ended the conflict between the Israeli military and Hezbollah. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned that if the ceasefire collapses, there would be no distinction between Lebanon and Hezbollah. Concerns about the fragile ceasefire have also been expressed by Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, amid ongoing Israeli airstrikes and numerous reported violations.
