Dutch Parliament Rejects Mercosur Trade Agreement Again

The Dutch Parliament has voted against the Mercosur trade agreement with South American countries for the second time. Initially agreed upon in 2019, the deal requires ratification from all EU member states, which has yet to happen. Concerns about unfair competition for European farmers have led to growing resistance against the deal, particularly from various political parties in the Netherlands. A motion has been passed requesting the Dutch government to communicate its opposition to the EU. Meanwhile, EU leaders are set to discuss the agreement later this month.
