Greek Supreme Court Rules on Constitutionality of Asylum Appeals Process
The plenary session of the Greek Council of State has raised constitutional concerns regarding the assignment of asylum appeals to Independent Appeal Committees operating as single-member bodies. Judging by a majority, the court found that the provisions of law 4686/2020 conflict with the Greek Constitution. The ruling mandates that from its publication in April 2025, such appeals cannot be deliberated in single-member committees, addressing the need for public interest in administrative judiciary processes.
