Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealth’s insurance division, was fatally shot outside the Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan. Authorities reported that he was shot in the chest and later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai West Hospital. UnitedHealth canceled the remainder of an investor event following the incident. An active investigation is underway, with no arrests made as of yet. Thompson had been with UnitedHealthcare since 2004 and became CEO in April 2021.
