Journalists at Guardian and Observer Strike Against Proposed Sale
Journalists at the Guardian and its sister publication the Observer are on a two-day strike protesting the proposed sale of the Observer to Tortoise Media, led by former Times editor James Harding. This marks the first strike at the Guardian in over 50 years. The National Union of Journalists has labeled the sale a ‘betrayal’ of the Scott Trust’s commitment to the Observer. Although the Guardian plans to mitigate the impact of the strike on readers, it acknowledges changes to its daily offerings during this period.
