Marineland d’Antibes to Permanently Close in January 2025 Due to New Cetacean Laws
Marineland d’Antibes has announced its permanent closure set for January 5, 2025, in compliance with a 2021 law banning cetacean performances. Director Pascal Picot expressed sadness over the decision, emphasizing the park’s 50-year commitment to animal welfare. A relocation plan for over 150 marine animals will be implemented, as visitation has plummeted from 1.2 million to under 500,000 in the past decade. Negotiations regarding the future of 103 employees will commence shortly.
