The Ioannina Water Supply and Sewerage Company (DEYAI) has classified the recent issue at the city’s sewage treatment plant as temporary. This follows claims from the Decentralized Administration regarding untreated wastewater flows into the Lapshista Channel. DEYAI attributed the problem to the integration of old and new systems, which has now been resolved. The facility is fully operational, ensuring no environmental harm, and the company assures that there are no pending fines. Ongoing upgrades to the old plant are set to be completed next year, enhancing wastewater management and environmental protection.
