Impact of China’s Massive Dam Projects in Tibet Revealed in New Report

A recent report by the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), supported by actor Richard Gere, highlights the catastrophic impact of China’s construction of at least 193 dams in Tibet. This development poses severe environmental, cultural, and human rights implications, with potential to control water resources for nearly two billion people in Southeast Asia. The dams, some significantly larger than any constructed before, threaten to displace approximately 750,000 individuals and exacerbate regional tensions over water distribution, warns Tibetan researcher Dechen Palmo and French Senator Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio.
