Major Road Overhaul Begins in Rhodes as Flood Protection Projects Progress
Rhodes officials have announced an €8.1 million project to revamp the road network from Faneromeni Junction to Diagoras Airport, starting November 11 and lasting two years, with work paused during peak tourist seasons to minimize disruption. Concurrently, regional flood protection measures are underway for 24 rivers and streams impacted by the 2023 wildfire, with studies for further flood defenses in Ialysos, Apollona, Archangelos, and Lardos also taking place. In addition, illegal advertising signs are set to be removed from the roadways, giving owners a grace period to act.
