Burkina Faso Junta Leader Ibrahim Traoré Dismisses Prime Minister and Dissolves Government

Ibrahim Traoré, the leader of Burkina Faso’s ruling junta, has dismissed Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachim Kyelem de Tamboa and dissolved the government, according to a presidential decree. Reasons for this decision have not been disclosed. Kyelem was appointed in October 2022 following a coup that brought Traoré to power. Burkina Faso has been in a state of political crisis since early 2022, and the country faces increasing jihadist attacks, leading to significant displacement and casualties since 2015.
