Protests Erupt in South Korea Calling for President Yoon Suk Yeol’s Impeachment
Thousands of protesters gathered outside the National Assembly in Seoul demanding the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. Inside the assembly, opposition attempts to push through an impeachment motion were thwarted due to a lack of quorum. Despite internal disagreements, members of Yoon’s ruling People Power Party walked out to block the process. In a public address shortly before the voting, Yoon apologized to citizens while refusing to resign, amidst escalating political turmoil and unrest.
