Germany Agrees on ‘Digital Pact 2.0’ to Enhance School IT Infrastructure
Germany’s federal and state governments have reached an agreement on the ‘Digital Pact 2.0’ to improve IT infrastructure in schools. The pact ensures shared funding of five billion euros over six years. The new plan modifies the previous agreement by eliminating a controversial training requirement for teachers while expanding qualification measures. The negotiations have been ongoing since December 2022, following uncertainty after the collapse of the coalition government. The proposal is set to be presented next week ahead of the upcoming Bundestag elections.
