Innovative Water Recycling Initiatives by Zagora Pilio Agricultural Cooperative in Greece
The Zagora Pilio Agricultural Cooperative has implemented a groundbreaking water recycling system with scientific support from Demokritos, saving 20 cubic meters of water daily for washing apples. This initiative aligns with the European LIFE program and aims to address water scarcity and reduce atmospheric pollutants. The cooperative also focuses on minimizing carbon emissions through its apple cultivation practices, ensuring both environmental protection and sustainable development in the region. Two programs were presented at a recent seminar that highlight the intersection of innovation and historical agricultural practices.
