Former Mayor Mélanie Boulanger Cleared of Drug Trafficking Charges

The Paris Court of Appeal has officially dismissed the appeal against former Canteleu Mayor Mélanie Boulanger, who was acquitted of drug trafficking charges in July 2024. Her lawyer, Arnaud de Saint-Remy, confirmed the decision, which prevents a second trial. Boulanger faced allegations of complicity in drug trafficking and was previously placed in police custody in October 2021. In a related case, 18 other defendants were sentenced to prison for their involvement in the drug trafficking operation. Boulanger resigned from her position earlier this year due to health issues.
