Gallery Owner and Associate Detained for Selling Forged Artwork in Greece
A 70-year-old gallery owner in Thessaloniki and his 62-year-old associate have been detained for allegedly selling fake artworks attributed to famous Greek painters. Following their testimony, both were considered temporary detainees, while a 42-year-old accomplice was released on conditions. The police operation resulted in the seizure of hundreds of artworks, with reports indicating that 850 paintings could be counterfeit. The accused deny the charges and are calling for forensic examinations of the seized works.
