Germany to Experience Fewer Workdays in 2025, Impacting Economy

In 2025, employees in Germany will work an average of 248.1 days, a decrease of 0.7 days compared to 2024, according to the Statistisches Bundesamt. This reduction results from the absence of the extra workday in the leap year 2024 and the favorable positioning of holidays. While fewer workdays bring relief to workers, it could negatively affect the economy, with a potential GDP decline of about 0.1 percentage points for each day lost. The average workdays for 2025 are the lowest since 2019.
