Following repeated acts of vandalism, the Municipality of Rethymno has installed security cameras at the newly built 16th Primary School to protect its facilities. This decision came after the school council’s request to ensure consent from educators and parents. The initiative aims to safeguard public property, particularly impacting students, with legal consequences for any vandals. Local officials expressed their regret in resorting to such measures but emphasized the importance of protecting public resources for the benefit of children.
