US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin emphasized the need for close coordination with Israeli counterpart Israel Katz regarding developments in Syria. The US supports an inclusive peaceful political transition and continues military actions to prevent the resurgence of ISIS. Following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, Israel launched numerous airstrikes against Syrian military capabilities. Austin also discussed the release of hostages held in Gaza and urged for improvements to the humanitarian situation amid allegations of genocide and war crimes against the Israeli government led by Benjamin Netanyahu.
