The Municipality of Ioannina is making significant strides in digital transformation and modern infrastructure development. According to Planning Deputy Mayor Thomas Giotitsas, three initial phases of the ‘Pilot Digital Applications for Smart City’ program are complete. A new project worth €1.2 million is on the verge of contracting, funded by the Recovery Fund, aimed at investing in modern SSC systems. Additionally, the installation of a 17-kilometer fiber optic network has commenced, with plans to cover 400 kilometers of urban area by 2025 to enhance internet speeds for businesses and residences.
