Funding Request for Affected Farmers in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
Christodoulos Topshidis, the Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, plans to request 100% funding support for livestock farmers impacted by animal diseases including peste des petits ruminants and sheep pox. This was announced during a regional council meeting where he outlined measures taken to address the outbreak, which resulted in the culling of over 60,000 sheep. Topshidis highlighted the involvement of government officials and the provision of compensation for affected farmers, amounting to approximately one million euros.
