Greek Government Proposes Measures to Reduce Banking Fees and Enhance Competition
The Greek government has announced a new set of initiatives aimed at eliminating banking fees for bill payments and significantly reducing transaction fees between banks by up to 80%. Additionally, measures include doubling the property tax (ENFIA) on vacant residential properties owned by banks and servicers, while committing 100 million euros for school renovations. The new regulations are set to be voted on in December, with a focus on improving citizens’ living standards and increasing financial transparency and competition in the banking sector.
