Caesarean Births Rise to One in Four in England, NHS Data Shows
Latest NHS data reveals that one in four babies in England is now born via Caesarean section, up from 13% in 2013-14. This increase is attributed to a rise in complex pregnancies associated with older mothers and obesity, as well as a growing trend of elective Caesarean deliveries. Experts highlight the risks linked to maternal age, with those over 39 experiencing the highest rates of this delivery method. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists emphasizes that they do not favor one birth method over another.
