Germany Records Hottest Year on Record as Global Temperatures Rise
The German Weather Service has reported that 2024 is set to be the warmest year since records began in 1881. As of mid-December, temperatures have reached unprecedented levels, surpassing even the record set in 2023. The implications of climate change are manifesting as more frequent and intense weather extremes. A global record is also anticipated, with the Copernicus Climate Change Service indicating that 2024 could be the first year to exceed an average increase of 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels.
