Decrease in Asylum Applications in Switzerland for November 2024

In November 2024, Switzerland saw a significant drop in asylum applications, with 2,325 requests filed—26% fewer than the previous year. The trend of decreasing applications continued, totaling 25,884 for the year to date. Afghanistan remained the leading country of origin, followed by Turkey, Algeria, and Morocco. The State Secretariat for Migration reported that primary applications fell to 1,969, while secondary requests accounted for 356. Additionally, over 2,800 decisions were made on asylum cases in the month, with one-quarter approved.
