The Irish Data Protection Commission has imposed a €251 million fine on Meta, the parent company of Facebook, for a 2018 data breach that compromised the privacy of millions of user accounts. The breach allowed hackers to access personal information of 29 million accounts, including 3 million from Europe. The fine follows two investigations initiated after Meta reported the breach to the Commission.
