Tragic Shipwreck off Tunisia Claims Lives of Migrants

At least 20 migrants from sub-Saharan Africa drowned when their boat capsized off the coast of Tunisia. The national guard reported that five individuals were rescued, and search operations are ongoing to find more survivors. Tunisia, alongside Libya, remains a key departure point for irregular migrants aiming to reach Europe. So far in 2023, between 600 to 700 migrants have reportedly drowned or gone missing in similar incidents near Tunisia, totaling over 1,300 fatalities this year alone.
